No. Put wet wipes in the garbage bin, including baby wipes, cleaning wipes and products labelled “flushable” or “septic safe”. A wipe passing through the toilet does not establish that it will break down safely in the rest of the system. Wipes can contribute to blockages; for a household toilet connected to septic, stick to human waste and toilet paper.
Keep a lined bin beside each toilet and explain the rule to guests and anyone cleaning the home. If wipes have already been flushed, stop adding them and watch for drainage problems without repeatedly flushing to test the system. Tell the service provider what went down the toilet if symptoms develop. Our septic repairs page explains how to request an assessment rather than assuming a pump-out alone will clear the problem.
